Stronger Together: Advancing Learning Through Collaboration

Georgetown International Academy (GIA) and the University of Guyana, Faculty of Education and Humanities (UG, FEH) have established a partnership to enhance educational opportunities through two key initiatives:

1. Caribbean and Guyanese History Integration
GIA and UG, FEH are collaborating to enrich GIA’s curriculum with Caribbean and Guyanese history. This initiative aims to deepen students’ understanding of local and regional historical, cultural, and political contexts. UG, FEH will provide expertise, guest lectures, and resource support, while GIA will develop a curriculum aligned with international standards and facilitate faculty training.

2. Special Education Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Partnership
This partnership fosters knowledge-sharing and inclusive education practices. GIA will offer UG, FEH educators opportunities for on-site observations, workshops, and collaborative resource development. UG, FEH will contribute expertise, curriculum resources, and training to enhance support for SEND students at GIA, ensuring individualized strategies for student success.

This collaboration underscores GIA’s commitment to academic excellence, inclusivity, and cultural awareness while fostering partnerships with the greater community of Guyana. Recently, Professor  Paloma Mohamed-Martin, Vice-Chancellor XI, University of Guyana and Shauna Hobbs-Beckley, Head of School at Georgetown International Academy and other key stakeholders gathered at the UG campus to sign the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) launching the first phase of this valuable collaboration.
