Library

The library is a quiet space that fosters a community of learning and literacy, leading to high academic achievement, independent reading and learning, and collaboration throughout the school.

Mission

The mission of the GIA library is to provide access to a wide range of resources that are suitable to an international school and to contribute to the personal growth, academic success, inquiry skills of the students and to enhance students’ progress through collaboration within the GIA community to become global citizens.

Checkouts

The following is the library’s checkout policy:

*In addition to their two books, K-5 students may check out an early reader of their choosing.
**In addition to their two books, grade 6-12 students may check out one more book for school assignments.

The library is open:

7:30AM-4:00PM

Monday-Friday

(Wednesday closes at 2:30PM).

Note:

Special permission for more materials may be granted when necessary for an assignment. Books can be renewed two times.

Library activities

The library hosts week-long book drives in the Fall and Spring to collect books to donate to various charities. World Book Day is on April 23! During this day, special time is set aside for Upper School students to read to Lower School students.

Overdue Books

Overdue notices are sent weekly via email through our online catalog system. Students have one month to locate missing books, then must replace the missing book or pay twice the book value for repurchasing/importing costs.
