The Georgetown International Academy (GIA), formerly known as the Georgetown American School, was founded in 1971 to serve the needs of the US Embassy post in Guyana, and continues to be one of 193 “American Overseas Schools” assisted by the U.S. Department of State.
Founded in 1971, Georgetown International Academy is a non-profit, U.S. accredited, PreK-12, American standards-based curriculum school. GIA is an internationally and culturally diverse community committed to academic excellence, social and emotional well-being, and belonging.
