Georgetown International Academy proudly reached a significant milestone in the 2025–2026 academic year and is now officially authorized to offer the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) beginning August 2026.
In MArch 2026, GIA hosted its IB verification visit—the culminating step in a rigorous process that reflects the dedication of our faculty, staff, students, and wider community in building a program grounded in academic excellence and global-minded learning.
The IB Diploma Programme will expand opportunities for our high school students, providing an internationally recognized qualification and opening pathways to universities around the world. GIA is the only school in Guyana where students can earn both the globally recognized IB Diploma and a U.S. High School Diploma. We look forward to this exciting next chapter as we continue to grow as a globally connected learning community.
